In their two years as a band, Ego Vs Id has garnered ardent support from the press, and have helped to develop the burgeoning rock and roll scene in Boulder. Described by the Boulder Weekly as “modern-style America with a twist of lovability and world weariness”, Ego Vs Id continues to be one of the fastest up and coming rock acts on the Front Range. However, the music is far from one dimensional, ranging from proto-punk to alt-country to epic ballads. The Colorado Music Buzz touched on their range of influence and output when they said “(Ego vs Id) is a band that mixes rock, delta blues, country rock, tejon and pop-infused rock rhythms. These guys are a very versatile band with immense harmonies and mature, vivid song arrangements.”
In a town frequently associated with jam bands and bluegrass, Ego vs Id has continually been hailed by fans and the press as the next movement in Boulder’s music scene; drawing comparisons to local’s Rose Hill Drive (as well as national acts such as Wilco, Dr. Dog, Midland, and others). Nearing completion on their debut LP, Ego vs Id will continue to make as much noise they possibly can while “proving Boulder bands don’t all have to play hippie jam music or have a banjo and two mandolins in the lineup (Yellow Scene magazine)."
